Mountcrest University has announced that it would begin the teaching of law in the local Ghanaian languages beginning in October.

According to the School, this has become necessary since persons fluent in our local languages have mostly had difficulties studying the law.

This was revealed by the founder of the school who is the former Director of Legal Education, Kwaku Ansa-Asare at the swearing-in of 20 new Members of the school’s council.

Furthermore, he bemoaned the fact that many people end up behind bars due to translations done improperly and their lack of understanding of the English language used in the courtrooms.

Mr. Asare says that these inconsistencies greatly affect the administration of justice hence their quest to teach the law in the local languages.

Additionally, the founder was hopeful that such an arrangement will arm the next generation of lawyers to be proficient in the law as well as court interpreters to do their work better.

He however called for an opportunity to be given to such lawyers to express themselves in the local dialects in court.
