The Nkawie Circuit Court convicted Abdul Aziz in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality after pleading guilty to negligently causing harm.

A 24-year-old tricycle rider has been sentenced to three months in prison after biting a Community Police Assistant during an attempt to avoid being taken to the police station.

The Nkawie Circuit Court convicted Abdul Aziz in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality after pleading guilty to negligently causing harm.

The court, presided over by Robert Addo, sentenced him on his own plea.

Police Inspector Kwaku Frimpong, prosecuting, said the incident happened at Nkawie on September 3, 2026.

According to him, officers from the Nkawie Divisional Motor Traffic and Transport Department were on patrol that morning to maintain road safety in the town.

The patrol team, led by Chief Inspector Abedi Larbi, intercepted Aziz at about 8:40 a.m. while he was riding a Pragya tricycle with registration number M-25-A-3722.

After inspecting the vehicle, the officers allegedly found that Aziz did not have a licence and other required documents.

A Community Police Assistant, Alhassan Seidu, was then instructed to escort him to the police station for further action.

The prosecution said Aziz changed direction while they were on their way to the station.

When the CPA directed him to take the proper route, Aziz allegedly refused and attacked him.

A struggle followed.

During the struggle, Aziz bit the CPA on the chest, causing him to shout for help.

Some nearby young men rushed to the scene and assisted in arresting Aziz.

He was later handed over to the police.

Inspector Frimpong said Aziz admitted the offence in his caution statement.

After investigations, he was charged and brought before the court, where he pleaded guilty.
