The Agona West Constituency branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expelled 280 members, including the current Member of Parliament (MP), Cynthia Morrison.
The affected individuals have been indefinitely prohibited from identifying as party members, holding any party positions, participating in meetings or events, and using NPP symbols or flags.
This decision was unanimously reached during an Expanded Constituency Executive Committee meeting held on December 15, with the resolution taking effect from December 16, 2024.
The move follows numerous complaints from party members alleging that the expelled individuals either ran as independent candidates, endorsed rival political parties, or supported independent candidates in the recent parliamentary elections.
In a statement dated December 16, Constituency Chairman Alhaji Gibrine Tanko highlighted that the NPP's constitution mandates such actions to maintain discipline and safeguard the party's unity.
