The Abeka District Court has committed Victor Stephen Nana Kankam, the landlord at Ofankor who was arrested for shooting his tenant, to stand trial at the High Court in Accra on April 4, 2022.

Facing a charge of murder, the accused had earlier been granted bail.

When the case at the Accra High Court commences, the state is expected to present nine witnesses.

Victor Nana Kankam was arrested in May 2020 for shooting to death his tenant, Benjamin Okyere, over rent issues.

The landlord however said he did so in self-defence.

“Although I am not supposed to talk to you without legal representation, all I can say is that I shot him [tenant] in self-defence,” he is reported to have said to JoyNews in an interview in 2020.
