The Special Prosecutor, Mr. Kissi Agyebeng, has held a strategic meeting with the leadership of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) to enhance collaborative efforts in corruption prevention and civic education.

The engagement, which took place on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at the NCCE headquarters in Accra, centred on using the Commission’s extensive national presence to boost public awareness on anti-corruption efforts.

Mr. Agyebeng highlighted that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has a dual role — not only to investigate and prosecute corruption-related cases but also to implement preventive measures through civic education.

“Curbing corruption isn’t solely about enforcement. It’s about changing mindsets and nurturing a culture rooted in integrity. That’s where our partnership with the NCCE becomes critical,” he remarked, stressing the importance of reaching communities at the grassroots level.

NCCE Chairperson, Ms. Kathleen Addy, expressed strong support for the collaboration, pointing out the Commission’s vital role in engaging citizens nationwide.

“Our mission aligns with the OSP’s. We are dedicated to equipping the public with the civic knowledge and ethical values needed to stand against corrupt practices,” she said.

A significant topic during the discussions was the persistent issue of vote-buying and vote-selling, especially as the country gears up for future elections. Both institutions agreed that promoting electoral integrity must be a continuous process, not limited to election periods.

They also committed to pursuing joint strategies for mobilising resources to sustain long-term civic education campaigns.

Also attending the meeting was Mr. Samuel Appiah Darko, Director of Strategy, Research, and Communications at the OSP. The NCCE was represented by Deputy Chairperson (Operations) Mr. Samuel Asare Akuamoah, Deputy Chairperson (General Services) Dr. Victor Brobbey, and other senior officials.
