This intervention has led to the plaintiffs agreeing to withdraw their legal challenges.

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who also serves as the Chancellor of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has stepped in to address concerns regarding the reappointment of the university's Vice-Chancellor.

This intervention has led to the plaintiffs agreeing to withdraw their legal challenges.

During a meeting called by Otumfuo on Friday, Isaac Mensah, an employee in KNUST’s Stores Department, and Clement Ohene Asare, a university alumnus, both of whom had filed lawsuits at the Kumasi High Court against the university's Governing Council and Vice-Chancellor, decided to drop their cases.

The legal actions were initiated in response to the decision to extend the term of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mrs. Rita Akosua Dickson by two years after her first term ended on August 1.

The plaintiffs contended that the extension process was flawed, arguing that the Governing Council had not followed the procedures set forth in KNUST's governing regulations.

Additionally, they averred that the conduct of the university council is unlawful, illegal, and unconscionable.

However, after hearing the plaintiffs' concerns, Otumfuo requested the withdrawal of the lawsuits to avoid disruptions to the university's academic activities and ensure the institution continues to function smoothly while he works to address any remaining issues.
