Parliament passed 23 new laws in 2025, introducing wide-ranging legislative changes across key sectors including taxation, public finance, the environment, natural resources, education, and social protection.

The new Acts include the Environmental Protection Act, 2025, the Social Protection Act, 2025, and several tax-related amendments. Parliament also repealed the Electronic Transfer Levy Act, 2022 (popularly nicknamed E-levy) and the Emissions Levy Act, 2023, removing two levies that had drawn public attention since their introduction.

A number of taxation laws were amended, including the Special Import Levy, Value Added Tax, Income Tax, and the Growth and Sustainability Levy. Parliament also passed a new Energy Sector Levies Act, along with two amendment Acts, replacing earlier legislation from 2015 and its subsequent updates in 2017, 2019, and 2021.
