This call to assemble is based on Article 112(3) of the Ghanaian Constitution and Standing Orders 5 and 53, which authorize the Speaker to summon Parliament when required in the national interest.
The Speaker of Parliament has issued an announcement calling Members of Parliament to reconvene for a session on Thursday, November 7.
This call to assemble is based on Article 112(3) of the Ghanaian Constitution and Standing Orders 5 and 53, which authorize the Speaker to summon Parliament when required in the national interest.
According to the notice dated October 31, the session is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and will be held at the Accra International Conference Centre, the temporary location for Parliamentary meetings while renovations are ongoing in the main Chamber.
All Members of Parliament are expected to arrive in Accra without delay to discuss issues of pressing importance.
This notice comes after Speaker Alban Bagbin’s decision to indefinitely adjourn parliamentary proceedings on October 22, following a day of heightened tension in the Chamber.
The adjournment came amid disagreements between Members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over which party holds the majority in Parliament.
