Police in the Bono Region have launched an investigation into the mysterious death of a 43-year-old woman who was discovered hanging in her room at Penkwase, a suburb of Sunyani.
The deceased, identified as Cynthia Boahemaa, was found on Saturday, 25 October 2025, according to a police statement signed by Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, Public Relations Officer for the regional command.
The incident was reported by two co-tenants, Hayford Nkansah and Adobea Eunice, who alerted police after finding Ms Boahemaa unresponsive in her room.
She was reportedly wearing a white dress with a piece of cloth around her neck. Blood was found oozing from her nostrils and dripping to the floor.
The body was taken to the Sunyani Regional Teaching Hospital, where a medical officer confirmed her death. It has since been deposited at the morgue for preservation and autopsy.
Police say preliminary observations suggest an unnatural death, but investigators have not ruled out foul play.
Residents of Penkwase have been left stunned, with neighbours describing the deceased as quiet and reserved.
The police have assured the public of a full investigation and are appealing to anyone with relevant information to come forward.
