Two new books focusing on the best practices in criminal investigations and the rights of suspects were recently launched in Nsawam, Eastern Region.

Authored by Detective Sergeant Modestus Amevor of the Ghana Police Service, these books aim to provide valuable insights and guidance for both law enforcement and the general public.

The first book, “Practical Guide on Criminal Investigations,” serves as an essential resource for police officers and other participants in the criminal justice system.

It covers various crucial aspects of criminal investigations, including charge sheets, statement collection, certifications, drafting brief facts, disclosures, and situational reports, supplemented with practical examples and case studies.

The second book, "Know Your Rights as a Suspect," is designed to inform readers about the fundamental human rights of suspects within the criminal justice system.

It details the rights suspects have during arrest, the responsibilities of police officers, and how suspects can assert their rights.

During the launch event, Detective Sergeant Amevor, stationed at the Nsawam District Police Criminal Investigative Department, emphasized the significance of these books as critical resources for improving the quality of criminal investigations.

He highlighted his motivation to bridge the information gap and enhance the understanding of criminal investigations among police officers, stakeholders in the criminal justice system, and the public.

Detective Sergeant Amevor expressed his hope that these books would address some of the challenges faced by investigators and contribute to a more informed and effective criminal justice system.
