“Prison Systems are called systems because all these systems must work together to achieve a justifiable treatment of the inmates."

A Justice of the Supreme Court of Ghana, Justice Henrietta Mensah Bonsu has tasked institutions involved in making decisions on prisoners to work together to ensure a justifiable treatment of inmates in Ghana.

“Prison Systems are called systems because all these systems must work together to achieve a justifiable treatment of the inmates in prison.”

Speaking at the launch of a book titled “Transformation of Prison Systems in Africa” authored by a former Director-General of the Ghana Prisons Service, Prof Mensah Bonsu while emphasizing the relevance of prosecution in ensuring obedience to the law, called for reforms to be made in our prisons for the benefit of all.

The author of the book, Mr. Richard Kuuire, also called on the Government to put in place policies to promote fair treatment of prisoners including initiating the prison farm activities in order for the inmates to develop their skills in Agriculture.
