As part of the sanction, Mr. Trustworthy must carry one of the sheep around his neck in a public walk from the Oguaa Akoto monument to the Emintsimadze Palace, where traditional rites will be performed to appease the gods.

The Oguaa Traditional Council has imposed a fine of GH¢30,000, three male white sheep, and a carton of schnapps on Ato Trustworthy, a presenter at Elmina-based Ahomka FM, for making disparaging remarks against the Council and its leadership.

As part of the sanction, Mr. Trustworthy must carry one of the sheep around his neck in a public walk from the Oguaa Akoto monument to the Emintsimadze Palace, where traditional rites will be performed to appease the gods. He must also issue a public apology within 14 days to the Oguaamanhen, Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II, the Council, and the people of Cape Coast.

The Council had initially rejected his apology following the viral video in which he referred to the Omanhen of Edina and the Omanhen of Oguaa as “two small boys” during comments on a breach of protocol at the PANAFEST 2025 durbar. After repeated pleas from his team, led by Rev. Father Joojo Gyepi-Garbrah, the Council agreed to accept the apology but insisted on the sanctions.

This is not Mr. Trustworthy’s first run-in with the Council over similar remarks. The Council said the punishment should serve as a warning to journalists to uphold respect when addressing traditional authorities.

Visibly remorseful, Mr. Trustworthy pledged to comply with all directives. The Oguaamanhen later emphasised the importance of preserving cultural values.
