The Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC) has issued a strict directive to all licensed insolvency practitioners across Ghana: renew your licenses by November 28, 2025, or risk losing the legal authority to operate.

The warning, grounded in Sections 153(3)(a) and 161(1) of the Corporate Insolvency and Restructuring Act, 2020 (Act 1015), forms part of a wider effort to tighten regulatory oversight and enhance professional accountability within Ghana’s growing insolvency and restructuring sector.

In a statement signed by Jones Nathaniel Ansah, Head of the Insolvency and Liquidation Services Directorate, the ORC underscored that maintaining a valid license is a non-negotiable requirement for all practitioners.

The ORC warned that practitioners who fail to renew by the stated deadline may face immediate revocation of their licenses, effectively barring them from practice.

The Registrar encouraged all affected professionals to complete the renewal process promptly at any ORC regional office, noting that the measure aims to preserve integrity and stability in Ghana’s corporate rescue and liquidation framework.

The agency said the directive reinforces Ghana’s broader agenda to improve corporate governance, financial transparency, and investor confidence in the post-insolvency ecosystem.

The ORC’s move aligns with a series of ongoing reforms to professionalise the insolvency industry, ensuring that practitioners adhere to ethical conduct, maintain updated credentials, and operate under robust regulatory scrutiny.

By enforcing the renewal deadline, the Registrar hopes to strengthen public trust in insolvency processes and create a more resilient business recovery environment.
