Esteemed lawyer and human rights activist Akoto Ampaw has passed on.

The lawyer is reported to have died in the early hours of today, October 20, after a short illness.

The late Lawyer Anthony Akoto Ampaw was a partner at Akufo-Addo, Prempeh & Co until his passing.

He was previously the head of the legal team that represented President Nana Akufo-Addo in the 2020 election petition at the Supreme Court.

Mr. Ampaw was also a key critic of the anti-LGBTQ bill before Parliament - many times with other civil society voices raising concerns about the need for the bill to consider human rights protection.

He was a key advocate for the teaching of human rights in schools.

His family and the firm where he worked, in the coming days are expected to release a statement.

So devastated to hear of the death of Lawyer Akoto Ampaw

This country has lost a moral voice.
