The Constitution Review Committee (CRC) is expected to hand over its long-awaited report to President John Mahama later today, Monday, 24 November, at the Jubilee House in Accra.

The ceremony, scheduled for 13:00 GMT, will mark the culmination of months of consultations and analysis by the eight-member body tasked with examining potential amendments to the 1992 Constitution.

Who Is on the Committee?

The panel is led by Professor H. Kwasi Prempeh, Executive Director of CDD-Ghana. The committee also includes:

Justice Sophia Adinyira, retired Supreme Court Justice

Professor Kwame Karikari

Charlotte Osei

Dr Godwin Djokoto

Ibrahim Tanko Amidu

President Mahama inaugurated the committee on 30 January, giving the team the responsibility of reviewing aspects of the constitutional framework and proposing reforms.

Although the CRC was originally expected to complete its work by August, the Presidency granted an additional three-month extension after the committee cited the extensive scope of submissions and research required.

Today’s presentation signals the committee’s final engagement with the Presidency before the government begins studying the recommendations.
