The deceased, 37-year-old Opoku Agyemang, was reportedly stabbed during an argument with his landlord, Kofi Koranteng, on Tuesday.

A GH¢30 electricity bill dispute has allegedly ended in the death of a tenant at Medie Ketewa in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

The deceased, 37-year-old Opoku Agyemang, was reportedly stabbed during an argument with his landlord, Kofi Koranteng, on Tuesday.

Residents say the incident has left the community stunned because the two men were not only landlord and tenant, but also close friends and long-time work colleagues.

Opoku, a married man with three children, is said to have owed GH¢30 in electricity bills.

It is not yet clear what turned the disagreement into a violent confrontation.

An eyewitness, Enoch Idan Danquah, said the landlord was displeased with how Opoku had handled payment of the electricity bill.

According to him, Koranteng invited the tenant into his room to discuss the matter.

The conversation allegedly escalated, and the landlord is said to have pulled out a machete and stabbed Opoku several times.

Koranteng, 50, who is reported to have five children, allegedly fled the scene after the incident.

The case has been reported to the police.

Officers from the Kotoku Police Command have since taken the body to the mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
