The highly anticipated event, which was set to honour Tsikata’s five-decade legacy in the legal profession, has been called off as a mark of respect for the national tragedy.
Renowned Ghanaian legal icon Tsatsu Tsikata has cancelled his planned three-day celebration marking 50 years in legal practice, following the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of two ministers of state and six others.
The highly anticipated event, which was set to honor Tsikata’s five-decade legacy in the legal profession, has been called off as a mark of respect for the national tragedy.
In a heartfelt statement released on Wednesday, August 6, Tsikata announced,
“Following the tragic news of a helicopter crash that has sadly taken the lives of the two Ministers of State and six others, the three-day event to celebrate fifty years of my legal practice is cancelled.”
He extended deep condolences to the bereaved families, stating,
“We are overwhelmed with grief, and our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased.”
As the nation mourns the loss of key public servants, Tsikata’s decision reflects the gravity of the moment and the collective sorrow being felt across the country.
Widely respected as one of Ghana’s most brilliant legal minds, Tsikata’s milestone was intended to be a celebration of professional excellence, public service, and intellectual leadership. Instead, it now stands as a quiet tribute to lives lost and a nation united in grief.
