Two men accused of posing as members of the Ghana Gold Board Taskforce to extort money from gold dealers have been arrested by the Western Central Regional Police Command.

The suspects, Foster Delord, 40, and Prince Worvi, 38, were picked up after a formal complaint revealed they had been moving from shop to shop, falsely presenting themselves as officials of the Gold Board.

According to a police statement shared on Facebook, the duo also claimed to be former military officers. A search during their arrest uncovered incriminating items, including a taser, pepper spray, handcuffs, uniforms, and GH¢500 in cash.

They were arraigned before the Tarkwa Circuit Court and have been remanded into custody while investigations continue.

The police are warning the public to be vigilant and report suspicious individuals who claim to represent state institutions.
