The Faculty of Law, University of Cape Coast has held its 13th Roll Call and Awards Ceremony, formally inducting its new Level 100 and 200 students into the study of law.

The ceremony, held on Wednesday, 28 January 2026, brought together students, mentors and institutional leadership, in what the faculty described as a defining milestone in its professional pipeline.

Among the dignitaries present were the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Denis Worlanyo Aheto, the Provost of the College of Humanities and Legal Studies, Daniel Agyapong, the Registrar, Gideon Enoch Abbeyquaye, the Director of Academic Affairs, Atta Yeboah-Sarpong, and the College Registrar, Ebenezer Aggrey.

The keynote address and oath were delivered by Sedinam Awo Kwadam, who urged students to treat the law first as a public trust. She cautioned against chasing personal gain at the expense of professional ethics, and challenged the new cohort to pair ambition with integrity, discipline and resilience, while defending what she described as the constitutional soul of the law.

The faculty also recognised academic excellence, with awards for students who made the Dean’s Honour List in the Summa Cum Laude and Magna Cum Laude categories.

Two members of staff, Philip MacClaire Young and Sally Ama Ackon, were honoured for their contributions to the faculty’s delivery and student experience.

Organisers paid tribute to the faculty and administrative team members who supported planning and event execution, including Julia Selman Ayetey, Elijah Tukwariba Yin, Ernest Ako, Constantine Kudzedzi, Vanboven Swanzy-Essien, Kenneth Atsu Dogbey, Rose Blankson-Austin and Rex Dzontoh.

They also acknowledged the role of past and current faculty and staff, including Bondzi-Simpson, Francis K. Korankye-Sakyi, Patrick Odetsi, Solomon Faakye, Carruthers Tetteh, James Otoo and Adjoa Gyamerah, alongside wider university leadership such as Kwabena Sarfo Sarfo-Kantankah and Kweku Adjei.

Special commendation was reserved for student volunteers and ushers, including Naa Yaborkor Morkeh, Janice, Clarkson and Dickson, as well as the Euphonics Choir for its musical support.

The faculty also noted the turnout of alumni, including David Bentil and Nana Danquah Adjei Domson, describing their presence as a signal of continued stakeholder commitment to the school’s growth and culture.
