The University of Ghana has lifted its temporary ban on social gatherings, a measure that was put in place to control the recent spike in COVID-19 cases on campus.
In a notice released by the Office of Student Affairs on Monday, July 14, and endorsed by University Health Services and top management, the university announced that the restriction has been removed effective immediately.
This development means that student groups and campus-based associations are once again free to organise events and activities, including their traditional week-long celebrations.
According to the statement, student bodies such as the Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana (GRASAG), the Students’ Representative Council (SRC), Junior Common Rooms (JCRs), faith-based organisations, and departmental associations can now resume their regular social programming.
However, the university reminded all organisers and participants to remain vigilant. While gatherings are permitted, strict adherence to COVID-19 safety protocols remains mandatory.
"Your cooperation in following all COVID-19 guidelines is essential," the university noted, highlighting the importance of maintaining a healthy and safe campus environment even as activities resume.
