A TikTok creator seen in a widely shared video attacking his girlfriend has been released on bail by the Adabraka District Court in Accra.
Christford Affadu Danful, 25, known online as Ekow Black, was granted bail of GH¢30,000 with two sureties during his second appearance before the court, presided over by Nana Abena Asoh Owusu Omenyo.
He has been charged with assault and pleaded not guilty. The case has been adjourned to 10 February 2026.
Prosecutors said Danful, an unemployed resident of Sakumono, was arrested on 15 January 2026 by the Police Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) after a video showing him beating Rachel Oduro spread rapidly on social media.
The footage, police said, circulated across platforms including TikTok, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter) and Snapchat, triggering public outrage and calls for action.
Chief Inspector Achana, leading the prosecution, said the complainants in the case are officers stationed at the National Police Headquarters in Accra.
Investigators say the accused and the woman had previously lived together and had a history of disputes that sometimes escalated into loud confrontations and violence.
Police also told the court that in his caution statement, Danful admitted hitting the victim, saying he slapped her repeatedly because he suspected she was cheating on him.
