In a statement issued on 13 March 2026 and signed by Registrar Emmanuel Baidoo, GCTU said the application was brought by Prof. Emmanuel Ohene Afoakwa, but stressed that the High Court has not yet ruled on it.

Ghana Communication Technology University has said its decisions remain valid and enforceable, rejecting social media claims that it has been injuncted by court.

The university said what has been filed against it is only a Motion on Notice for an Interlocutory Injunction and not an actual injunction granted by the court.

In a statement issued on 13 March 2026 and signed by Registrar Emmanuel Baidoo, GCTU said the application was brought by Prof. Emmanuel Ohene Afoakwa, but stressed that the High Court has not yet ruled on it.

According to the university, the matter is scheduled to be heard on 24 March 2026.

GCTU said it was important to clarify that the filing of an interlocutory injunction application does not, on its own, create any legal restraint.

It noted that under Ghanaian law, such an order only takes effect after the court has heard the application and formally granted it.

On that basis, the university said reports suggesting it has already been injuncted are false and should be ignored.

The statement added that all actions and directives issued by the institution remain in force.

The issue arises from the continuing dispute between the university and its embattled Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Afoakwa, who has gone to court to challenge moves by the Governing Council to remove him from office.

He is seeking relief from the court, including restoration to the position.

GCTU said it would continue to follow the legal process and update the public if there are any significant developments.
