Police in Wenchi, located in the Bono Region, neutralized a suspected armed robber during a confrontation in the early hours of Saturday, December 28, on the Wenchi-Awisa road.

The source disclosed that the individual was part of a gang of four suspected robbers targeting travelers on Sprinter and Yutong buses along the stretch. Their criminal activity was interrupted when a police night patrol team arrived at the scene, near the Awisa cemetery, leading to a gunfire exchange.
While the other robbers fled the scene, police recovered a locally crafted single-barrel gun, a student bag containing two Itel phones, a power bank, six BB cartridges, and an unspecified amount of money.
Thankfully, all passengers emerged unscathed, although no arrests have been made yet. Police investigations into the case are ongoing.
