The National Identification Authority (NIA) has issued a strong warning to Ghanaians who illegally vouch for foreign nationals in an attempt to get them registered for Ghana Cards, stating that such actions are criminal and will lead to prosecution.

At a press briefing on Monday, August 4, 2025, the NIA’s Head of Corporate Affairs, Williams Ampomah Emmanuel Darlas, stressed that the act of falsely guaranteeing a non-citizen’s nationality undermines the credibility of the national ID system and threatens national security.

He condemned the growing trend of monetizing the vouching process, warning that anyone found turning it into a business will face serious consequences.

The NIA reiterated its commitment to protecting the integrity of the Ghana Card system and encouraged the public to report any suspicious activities linked to the registration process.
