The 31-year-old was indicted last year on six counts for fraud and money laundering after her extradition from the UK.

Ghanaian socialite, Mona Faiz Montrage popularly called Hajia 4real on Wednesday pleaded guilty to receiving over $ 2 million in proceeds in a romance scheme, that targeted older, single American citizens.

The 31-year-old was indicted last year on six counts for fraud and money laundering after her extradition from the UK.

But on Wednesday, she decided to plead guilty to only one count of that indictment - conspiracy to receive stolen money.

"MONTRAGE, 31, of Accra, Ghana, pled guilty to one count of conspiring to receive stolen money, which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.  MONTRAGE also agreed to pay forfeiture in the amount of $2,164,758.41 and make restitution in the same amount.  MONTRAGE is scheduled to be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Paul A. Crotty.

“The maximum potential sentence in this case is prescribed by Congress and is provided here for informational purposes only, as any sentencing of the defendant will be determined by the judge,” a statement from authorities there said.
