Toh You Kang is facing charges of defrauding by false pretence, following allegations that he approached Mr. Ashie Moore with a proposal to launch a cable business in Ghana.
The Dansoman Circuit Court has postponed proceedings in the case of Singaporean national, Toh You Kang, who stands accused of defrauding the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Emmanuel Ashie Moore, of $3 million.
The adjournment to July 31, 2025, is to enable the Attorney General’s Department to review the case docket and offer legal advice before the matter proceeds.
Toh You Kang is facing charges of defrauding by false pretence, following allegations that he approached Mr. Ashie Moore with a proposal to launch a cable business in Ghana. Believing in the venture’s promise, Ashie Moore reportedly facilitated a $3 million transfer from a Chinese investment partner to support the deal.
However, the businessman allegedly failed to transfer the funds to Mr. Ashie Moore as initially agreed. According to police investigators, Toh has admitted receiving the money but claims it was not meant for the complainant.
During Wednesday’s court session, counsel for the accused, Cephas Boyuo, withdrew a pending bail application before the Circuit Court, informing the judge that his client had already secured bail from the High Court.
On June 25, 2025, the High Court granted Toh bail set at GH¢10 million, with two sureties—one of whom must be justified. The accused has also been required to surrender his travel documents to the court as part of the bail conditions.
The case has now been adjourned as the prosecution awaits further directives from the Attorney General.
