The Ghana Police Service’s Anti-Landguard Unit has arrested 10 suspected landguards believed to be behind years of intimidation and violence in Ashongman Estates, Ga East District, Greater Accra.
The operation, led by DSP Nafiu Shittu, took place on Thursday at the Bank of Ghana (BoG) lands within the community. Among those arrested were Yussif Touffik, Chief Ali Ibrahim, Abdul Wajeed, Seidu Issah, Graham Smith, Latiff Larry, Mohammed Omar, Emmanuel Mensah, Abdul Wallah, and Said Abdullai.
According to DSP Shittu, the suspects were part of a long-standing criminal network that had been operating in the area with impunity.
The raid was prompted by mounting complaints from residents, who reported threats, attacks, and property destruction by the group.
Local residents welcomed the arrests with relief.
Police say more operations are planned as part of efforts to restore peace, protect property rights, and dismantle landguard networks across the country.
