The Ghana Police Service has arrested 141 people, including a landlord, in a major intelligence-led operation targeting cyber-enabled financial crime in parts of the Greater Accra Region.

The swoop was carried out on Friday, 27 December 2025, by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in partnership with the Cyber Security Authority, National Security and the Ghana Immigration Service.

According to the Police, the suspects were picked up from hideouts in identified cybercrime hotspots at Tabora and Lashibi after several weeks of surveillance and intelligence gathering.

Preliminary findings suggest the group operated as interconnected networks engaged in a range of online criminal activities, including mobile money fraud, romance scams, sextortion, business email compromise and wire fraud, targeting victims in Ghana and abroad.

Officers seized 38 laptop computers and 150 mobile phones believed to have been used in the alleged schemes. The devices are undergoing forensic examination to support the investigations.

All 141 suspects are currently in police custody assisting with enquiries and are expected to be processed and put before court in due course.
