A Circuit Court in Accra has remanded 22 foreign nationals into custody at Nsawam Prison for allegedly entering and staying in Ghana without valid permits.
The group, made up of men and women, appeared before Her Honour Basilia Adjei-Tawiah. They are facing charges under Sections 4 and 52(1)(d) of the Immigration Act, 2000 (Act 573), which prohibits entry and residence without lawful authorisation.
The accused were identified as:
Toure Blandine, Alima Fofona, Kindho Habibatta, Benjamin Fofana, Saran Kone, Alan Fofana, Abdoulaye Ouedrago, Watara Madi, Watara Adams, Bolly Moussa, Fadima Fofana, Fatime Fofana, Moussa Sylla, Don Camara Ibrahima, Michel Cisse, Kourouma Allasane, Francois Kone, Norbert Fofona, Muktar Kone, Karbante Gilbert Camara, Usmane Fofana and Yao Moussa.
Prosecutors told the court that the arrests were made after police received intelligence that more than 100 foreign nationals were operating in Kuntunse-Satellite, near Accra.
Officers conducted a raid on 7 October 2025 and detained 22 of them. During questioning, the suspects were unable to produce identification or valid travel documents.
Investigations showed that they had entered Ghana between February and September 2025. Authorities say they were working as Q-Net marketers without the required immigration or work permits.
All the accused pleaded not guilty. They are expected to reappear in court on 3 November 2025.
