Police in the Northern Region have arrested three men: Jabuni Mohammed, Alidu Abdul Samed, and Abdul Aziz for unlawfully possessing restricted pharmaceutical drugs and a firearm.
The arrests followed an incident on Sunday, August 3, 2025, when Jabuni, driving a Nissan Hardbody pickup (GN 2812-20), failed to stop at a police checkpoint along the Tamale–Bolgatanga highway. Officers gave chase, and Jabuni eventually abandoned the vehicle, attempting to flee into the nearby bush before being captured.
Upon searching the vehicle, police discovered 1,399 blister foils of Tafrodol 120mg—a restricted medication—hidden inside a deflated spare tire. They also found a loaded CA161M pistol with six 9mm rounds stashed in the headrest.
Further investigations led to the arrest of Samed and Aziz, believed to have commissioned Jabuni to procure the contraband. Jabuni reportedly confessed to working under their instruction.
All three suspects are in custody, assisting with investigations, and are expected to face charges related to the unlawful possession of restricted drugs and firearms.
