The Bono Regional Police Command has arrested a 37-year-old man, Emmanuel Sarpong, in connection with the theft of a Hyundai Mighty Truck valued at GH¢400,000.
According to a statement issued by Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, the Regional Police PRO, Sarpong was picked up on August 3, 2025, after a tip-off led police to Akim Oda in the Eastern Region, where the stolen truck—originally reported missing from Baakoniaba in Sunyani on July 30—was located.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had removed the original registration number GR-6552-24 and was using the vehicle for commercial transport until it broke down.
An intelligence-led undercover operation by the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) successfully lured the suspect into custody. He was arrested when he showed up to receive payment for the vehicle he had allegedly offered for sale.
The truck has since been retrieved and returned to Sunyani, and the suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
