The Akwatia Police Command in the Eastern Region has arrested a 36-year-old man, Stephen Nkansah, after three firearms were discovered in his vehicle during a routine snap check at Staff Village, Boadua.

Nkansah, who was travelling in a Toyota Tundra pickup with five other mourners from Asamankese to Boadua, was stopped by officers as part of heightened security operations in the area. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of three guns, including a Pardus pump-action and a Hulglu pump-action.

When questioned, Nkansah admitted ownership of two of the weapons but claimed the third belonged to his chief. He explained that the group was en route to a funeral at Akyim Tayiman.

Police have since detained Nkansah as investigations continue into the source and intended use of the firearms.
