Seth Frimpong, also known as Atta Payin, a welder, and his brother Emmanuel Frimpong, alias Atta Kakra, an excavator operator, pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy and theft.

Identical twins with a criminal history have each been sentenced to four years in prison by the Bibiani District Court for stealing an unregistered motorbike worth GH¢13,000 from a residence in Adiembra near Chirano in the Western North Region.

Seth Frimpong, also known as Atta Payin, a welder, and his brother Emmanuel Frimpong, alias Atta Kakra, an excavator operator, pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy and theft. While they asked for leniency and cited a partial repayment of GH¢3,440, the court was not swayed.

Presiding over the case, Judge Lord Delvin Essandoh handed down concurrent 48-month sentences to both men. In an unusual twist, he ordered the twins to serve their terms apart—Seth at Obuasi Prisons and Emmanuel at Kumasi Central Prison.

Quoting Roman mythology, the judge likened their case to the tragic tale of Romulus and Remus, stating that while those twins founded a kingdom, Seth and Emmanuel chose to build reputations through crime. “This court will not reward criminal unity with companionship in custody,” he said.

The stolen Haojin motorbike, which had been recovered at a mechanic shop in Bibiani on June 30, was ordered to be returned to its rightful owner, Daniel Fosu.

According to Chief Inspector B.O. Agyemang, the bike was stolen during the night of June 15, 2025. A witness, Samuel Akurugu Manzan, was seen leaving the area in a tricycle and later confessed he had unknowingly assisted the twins under the guise of a family visit.

Further investigations led police to apprehend the twins on July 4 at a police checkpoint. During questioning, Emmanuel admitted to transporting the stolen bike to Bibiani and arranging its sale through a third party named “Chairman” for GH¢4,000.

Background checks revealed that the Frimpong twins are no strangers to crime, having previously served multiple sentences—one even escaping from custody during an earlier case.
