The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two people over a suspected deliberate burning of a residential property at Oyarifa Anointed Down.

In a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, police named the suspects as Canadian national Jennifer Mae Tomlinson and her Ghanaian boyfriend, Mohammed Issah.

According to the statement, initial findings suggest the pair, who were tenants in the building, intentionally set the apartment on fire on 23 December, completely destroying the property “without any apparent provocation”.

Police say Issah was picked up by officers from the Ayimensah Abokobi District on the day of the incident, while Tomlinson allegedly went into hiding and was later arrested at her hideout on 25 December.

Both suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations. The Command indicated they will be arraigned and charged in accordance with the law once the investigative process is sufficiently advanced.
