Police in the Eastern Region have arrested a 37-year-old carpenter suspected of killing a security guard at the Kyebi Presbyterian College of Education.
The Public Affairs Officer for the Eastern South Regional Command, DSP David Fianko-Okyere, said the suspect, Kwame Arhin, also known locally as Abompe, was detained on Sunday, 16 November 2025, after officers found him hiding in a nearby bush.
The victim, Jonas Baah Sarpong, was discovered dead on Saturday, 15 November, close to the Kyebi Court Complex. Police responded to a distress call and found his body with severe injuries.
Preliminary inquiries suggest the two men may have had a confrontation shortly before the attack. Investigators believe the suspect used a cutlass to slash the guard’s throat before fleeing.
A Crime Scene Management team examined the location, and the body was initially taken to the Kyebi Government Hospital morgue. It has since been transferred to the Police Hospital in Accra for preservation and autopsy.
DSP Fianko-Okyere said the suspect is currently being processed for court as officers continue gathering evidence.
Police have assured the public that they are committed to securing justice for the victim and supporting the family through the investigation.
