A building contractor, Prince Kwame Fiatsi, has been remanded by the Accra Circuit Court 9 for allegedly attempting to export narcotic drugs without authorization and engaging in prohibited drug-related business.

Fiatsi’s plea has not yet been taken, as police investigations are still underway. The court, presided over by Samuel Bright Acquah, has twice denied bail applications from his lawyer, citing flight risk, and urged prosecutors to expedite the case.

According to the prosecution, led by officers of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), Fiatsi was flagged in March 2025 after the arrest of suspected drug dealer Uchechukwu Chima. Investigations suggested that Fiatsi acted as Chima’s courier.

Fiatsi was initially expected to arrive at Kotoka International Airport from Laos via Bangkok and Dubai on March 21, 2025, but allegedly diverted through Conakry, Guinea, before entering Ghana by road through Côte d’Ivoire to avoid arrest.

He was eventually intercepted on July 10, 2025, at the Elubo border while heading to Abidjan to board a flight to India. NACOC says he admitted in the presence of his lawyer to transporting a bag from a man named Fred containing narcotics, referring to them as “goods.” Fred is said to have covered his travel expenses and given him $2,300 in spending money.

The case remains under investigation.
