The Circuit Court in Accra has freed Alberta Abi Amartey and Emmanuel Anang Yemoh in a land fraud case after prosecutors failed to pursue the matter.
Presiding Judge Kwabena Kodua Obiri-Yeboah struck out the case on April 21 last year, citing the prosecution’s repeated failure to file required court processes despite earlier warnings.
The two, along with a third accused, Philip Addogah—who was absent from court—had been charged in October 2023 with conspiring to defraud lawyer Solomon Aubin of GH¢190,000. The money was allegedly paid for six “litigation-free” plots at Abokobi intended for a church project.
However, the complainant later faced rival ownership claims from the Brekusu and Akrodey families, resulting in part of his newly built fence wall being demolished. Prosecutors had alleged the accused were aware the land was under dispute before the sale.
