The Human Rights Court has cut in half the bail imposed on former Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST) Managing Director Dr Edwin Provencal, who is under investigation for alleged financial crimes.
The court on Tuesday revised the terms from GH¢60 million to GH¢30 million, granting the application filed by his lawyer, Charles Okyere, for a variation of conditions.
Dr Provencal must also provide two sureties and surrender his passport to the court registry as part of the new terms.
The former BOST chief was picked up by officers from the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) on 10 November 2025 at Kotoka International Airport, where he was preparing to board a flight to Maputo, Mozambique.
EOCO said he had not secured the necessary clearance before attempting to travel. After his arrest, he was granted an administrative bail of GH¢60 million but remained in custody for eight days.
He is being investigated for causing financial loss to the state and money laundering, accusations he strongly denies.
News of the reduced bail sparked loud celebrations from his supporters gathered on the court premises. Some were heard shouting, “God is on your side—He will see you through,” while others declared, “We are with you.”
Further hearings are expected as the case continues.
