Two Nigerian nationals have been handed four-year prison sentences each by the Damongo Circuit Court for offenses linked to Ghana’s national identification registration process.
The court, presided over by His Honour Livingstone Lartey Yao Ameevor, found the two men guilty on three counts: giving false information to officials of the National Identification Authority (NIA), defrauding by false pretence, and possession of forged documents.
Each convict was sentenced to four years’ imprisonment.

Prosecutors said the two deliberately gave false details during the national ID registration exercise. They were also found with forged documents, which the prosecution said were used to support the alleged fraud.
After considering the evidence, the court convicted them on all charges and imposed the custodial terms.
