The Pakyi District Court has sentenced 23-year-old driver, Derick Appiah, to 12 months’ imprisonment with hard labour after he admitted to stealing a susu box belonging to his co-worker, Ebenezer Agyei, a Station Master at Mpatasie.

On July 29, 2025, Agyei returned home to find his room broken into and the box — containing over GH¢20,000 — missing. Witnesses reported seeing Appiah looking for Agyei earlier that day.

Appiah was arrested by the complainant and two witnesses, assaulted by unidentified individuals, treated at a hospital, and handed over to police.

He confessed to the theft, later leading his mother to the hidden box, which was recovered with GH¢2,047 inside. The court convicted him on his own plea.
