Christford Affadu Danful was arrested on Thursday, 15 January, after what police described as an intelligence-led operation involving the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting Team.

A district court in Accra has remanded a man popularly known as Ekow Black into police custody in connection with a viral video appearing to show the assault of a woman, as well as fresh allegations of sextortion.

Christford Affadu Danful was arrested on Thursday, 15 January, after what police described as an intelligence-led operation involving the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting Team.

In a statement posted on Facebook, the Ghana Police Service said the suspect was brought before the Adabraka District Court on Friday, 16 January, while investigations continue.

The court, presided over by Her Worship Nana Abena Asoh Owusu Omenyo, ordered that Danful remain in custody to allow further enquiries to be completed. He is expected to return to court on Tuesday, 21 January.

Police say preliminary findings suggest the suspect and the woman, who previously lived together, had a troubled relationship marked by repeated disagreements that escalated from verbal confrontations to physical violence.

The latest court order comes as investigators also examine additional claims that the suspect threatened to share intimate images, and engaged in conduct consistent with sextortion.
