A 42-year-old farmer, Kofi Nkrumah, has been remanded into police custody by the Bibiani Magistrate Court for allegedly attempting to murder his ex-wife, Grace Akose Akowuah. The court, presided over by His Lordship Delvin Essandoh, ordered his detention for two weeks, with a scheduled reappearance on April 3, 2025.

The incident occurred in Sefwi Chirano, located in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region. Reports indicate that Nkrumah and his ex-wife had been married for 15 years before separating due to ongoing disputes.

In a brutal attack, the suspect allegedly inflicted deep cutlass wounds on Akowuah and abandoned her by a river, believing she had succumbed to her injuries. However, she was later found alive and received medical attention.

Upon learning of her survival, Nkrumah attempted to flee but was apprehended by security personnel from the Ghana Bauxite Company in Awaso after the victim’s family reported the attack. He was subsequently handed over to the Awaso police and later transferred to the Bibiani Police Command for further investigation.

The victim, Grace Akose Akowuah, later recounted her ordeal to Adom News, detailing how her ex-husband ambushed and attacked her. Meanwhile, the case continues as authorities conduct further investigations into the matter.
