The latest incident bears chilling similarities to the killing of immigration officer Stephen Amoah, who was murdered in the same manner in the same community not long ago.

The Kwabenya Comet community in Accra has been thrown into fear after another gruesome killing—this time, an unidentified Okada rider whose throat was slit. The murder, the second of its kind in just a few months, has left residents deeply shaken.

The latest incident bears chilling similarities to the killing of immigration officer Stephen Amoah, who was murdered in the same manner in the same community not long ago. Locals worry the community may be facing a disturbing trend of targeted violence that remains unchecked.

Residents say the repeated attacks have created a climate of fear, with many questioning the ability of law enforcement to protect them. “We don’t feel safe anymore,” one resident lamented, reflecting the mood of the entire neighbourhood.

Police have opened an investigation, though no arrests have yet been made. The Kwabenya area—densely populated and rapidly urbanising—poses serious challenges for security forces, with poorly lit streets and sprawling settlements giving cover to criminal activity.

These back-to-back murders have sparked renewed calls from residents for swift and visible police action to restore peace. Many fear that without urgent intervention, the violence could escalate further, deepening the community’s sense of vulnerability.
