Dodoo, who appeared before Her Honour Halimah El-Alawa Abdul-Bassit, has been charged with conspiracy to commit crime, unlawful entry, and stealing.
The Dansoman Circuit Court has remanded 21-year-old fisherman, Michael Dodoo, into police custody for his alleged involvement in the theft of GH¢50,800 and two mobile phones from a businessman’s vehicle at Accra Central.
Dodoo, who appeared before Her Honour Halimah El-Alawa Abdul-Bassit, has been charged with conspiracy to commit crime, unlawful entry, and stealing. He pleaded not guilty and is expected to reappear on October 20, 2025.
According to the prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Christopher Wonder, the complainant, Seidu Mohammed, a businessman from Koforidua, parked his Opel vehicle in front of the UBA Bank, Accra Central Branch, around 4:00 a.m. on September 20, 2025.
Without locking the doors, he reportedly crossed the street to buy tea, leaving behind a bag containing two Tecno mobile phones valued at GH¢3,500 and GH¢50,800 in cash.
At the same time, Dodoo and his three alleged accomplices — identified as Prince, Amuguaye, and Sadiku — who are currently on the run, were loitering near the scene.
The four allegedly hatched a plan to open the vehicle and steal valuables. They gained access through the unlocked front door and made away with the cash and phones.
Chief Inspector Wonder said police received intelligence about a group suspected of breaking into vehicles around the same area. Based on this tip-off, a surveillance team was deployed, leading to Dodoo’s arrest shortly after the incident.
A search conducted on him reportedly led to the retrieval of two Tecno phones, which the complainant later identified as his property.
During interrogation, Dodoo is said to have confessed to the theft, explaining that the group later quarreled over how to divide the stolen cash.
He claimed that Amuguaye took possession of the money, promising to share it later, but never returned.
The prosecution confirmed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the three other suspects — Prince, Amuguaye, and Sadiku — who remain at large.
Dodoo remains in police custody as investigations continue into what authorities describe as a vehicle-breaking syndicate operating around Accra Central.
