The Abuakwa Circuit Court has granted bail to four men arrested in connection with disturbances at the Osei Tutu Senior High School (OTSHS) in Akropong, Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality.

Presided over by Jephthah Appau, the court admitted each accused person to GH¢15,000 bail with one surety, totaling GH¢60,000. They pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit a crime and riot.

The Accused

Samuel Aloo (21) – Mechanic

Abukari Sadik (24) – Butcher

Andrews Boateng (27) – Second-hand goods dealer

Emmanuel Gariba (20) – Tricycle rider

The case has been adjourned to October 17, 2025.

Background

The clash was triggered by tensions over an alleged mobile phone theft involving some Esaase youth and students of OTSHS.

On August 27, 2025, youths from Esaase, including the accused, allegedly threatened to burn a school hostel and stormed the campus.

Students mounted a roadblock on the Akropong–Esaase road and hurled stones to repel the intruders.

Police intervened swiftly, arresting four suspects while others escaped.

Following investigations, the suspects were charged and brought before the court.
