Four men have been arrested over the killing of a 32-year-old man during an attempted kidnapping at Jilima in Garin Kuuka, a remote community near Chereponi in Ghana’s North East Region.
District Police Commander for Saboba, ASP Victor Koafo, confirmed the arrests and said the suspects would be screened on Thursday.
“We arrested four, and I will be parading them before my Divisional Commander tomorrow,” he told reporters.
The incident happened on Tuesday night when two armed men are said to have stormed the home of the victim, identified only as Hashim.
Relatives described him as a wealthy young Fulani businessman. They said he resisted when the attackers tried to force him from the house, sparking a struggle.
During the confrontation, one of the assailants allegedly opened fire, killing Hashim on the spot before the pair fled.
Officers from the Saboba District Police Command later deployed to the area to assess the situation and begin investigations.
Police say subsequent intelligence-led operations led to the arrest of four suspects believed to be linked to the attack.
The killing has heightened anxiety in nearby communities, where residents say they are increasingly worried about kidnappings and armed attacks.
Locals are calling for stepped-up patrols and stronger security presence, while police have appealed for calm and urged the public to share information that could help bring all those responsible to justice.
