Four men have been arraigned before the Dansoman Circuit Court following a violent assault on the Kwabenya Palace on August 20, 2025. Ten other suspects linked to the attack remain on the run.
The men brought before the court on Friday were identified as:
Philip Addy alias Nii Oshipi – Businessman
Oppong Abdulai – Footballer
Arimeyaw Mumuni – Mechanic
Eric Nii Aryee Mensah alias Nii Atomic – Mechanic
They pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit crime, causing unlawful damage, assault, and abetment of a crime. Presiding Judge Her Honour Basilia Adjei-Tawiah ordered that they be remanded into police custody, siding with the prosecution’s argument that bail could compromise investigations or endanger the complainants.
According to prosecutors, the accused—alongside others still at large—stormed the Palace of Nii Abbey Okanfra III, Chief of Kwabenya, under the pretext that he was secretly installing a Queen Mother.

David Nii Okanja Aryee, son of the Chief, was physically assaulted, with medical reports confirming his injuries.
Police retrieved spent BB cartridge shells and broken bottles from the scene.
