The Ghana Health Service has initiated an investigation into how a patient was allegedly abandoned in a bush at Gomoa Ojobi in the Central Region.

On June 13, multiple reports indicated that a patient who was allegedly on admission at the Trauma and Specialist Hospital in Winneba had been conveyed in a wheelchair and dumped at Ojobi after her relatives failed to show up.

The reports indicated further that she was put in an ambulance, left at the place where she claimed to be her hometown, and was later found dead.

A statement by the Service indicates that it has initiated an investigation into the matter to establish the authenticity or otherwise of the story ‘in line with the existing practices in the public service to enable it to take appropriate actions’

The Service has thus appealed to the general public to be patient, as anyone found to be connected with this unfortunate incident will be severely dealt with in accordance with provisions of the Service’s Code of Conduct.
