The trial of Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, former Board Chairman of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF), and Solomon Asamoah, former Chief Executive Officer, over the alleged misappropriation of $2 million in the Sky Train project, has been pushed back to October 13, 2025.
The matter came up on Thursday, August 28, before the Vacation High Court in Accra, presided over by Justice Kizita Naa Koowa Quarshie. The session, held virtually, recorded the online presence of Mr. Asamoah. However, Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi was absent.
Both men have been charged with six counts, including willfully causing financial loss to the state, but have pleaded not guilty.
According to the Office of the Attorney-General, the prosecution intends to call eight witnesses to testify when the trial resumes in the new legal year.
The charges relate to their role in the controversial Sky Train project, where $2 million was allegedly misapplied, resulting in what prosecutors describe as deliberate financial losses to the Republic.
With the adjournment, the trial will properly begin when courts return from legal vacation, marking the opening of the 2025/26 legal year.
