The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has confirmed the arrest of 21-year-old Sampson Azumah, the prime suspect in the stabbing of a firefighter during last Friday’s emergency response operation at Adjiriganor.
Azumah is currently in police custody and is actively assisting investigators as part of a coordinated, multi-agency inquiry. He is expected to be arraigned before the Achimota Circuit Court on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, where he will face charges relating to causing harm to a public officer.
GNFS leadership commended the White Chapel Youth Group in Madina and members of the public whose rapid mobilisation and intelligence support enabled law enforcement to effect the arrest swiftly. The Service underscored that sustained community collaboration remains a critical lever in strengthening national safety systems and enabling frontline personnel to execute their mandates without threat or interference.
The GNFS reiterated its commitment to ensuring that attacks on firefighters—who operate as essential public safety assets—are met with uncompromising accountability under the law.
